Mme. Bakhmeteff (nee Miss Beale of Washington) married a Russian ambassador.

George Bakhmeteff, was the Ambassador from Russia to the United States, the last under the Imperial regime. His wife, a daughter of General Beale, the Pathfinder of California, was a social leader in Washington for many years.
